FAQs

The Boulevard Academy operates a city-wide admissions policy. In the case of an oversubscription where the number of applications after the allocation of priority admissions, is greater than the published number, places will be allocated on the criteria outlined in the Admissions Policy section of the website.

Academy Life FAQs

Who do I contact about using the Academy’s facilities for a community activity?

Enquiries about using the facilities for a community activity should be made to Mrs Daniel, Academy Business Manager. The Academy is one of the biggest community resources in the area and we want to encourage the use of the building in the evening and weekends.

Does my child have to stay for school dinners?

Healthy school meals are served daily in the main canteen but students may bring a packed lunch instead. All students are required to stay on site throughout the Academy day, including during the 30-minute lunch break.

What happens if my child is ill at school?

We will contact the family using the telephone numbers provided – please make sure that these are updated so we have the correct number.

How does the Academy communicate important news to parents?

The Academy aims to keep parents fully informed at all times. To make communication easy and direct we have the My Ed app for sharing all our latest news, lunch menus, and activities. The app also allows for easy communication from parents to school in cases of absence.

Can I take my child out of the Academy for a holiday during term time?

The Department for Education gives very clear direction to all schools on all requests for holiday leave taken during term time. "The Principal may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances." These exceptional circumstances are set out in the Academy’s Attendance Policy. The local authority will impose fines on all parents who take unauthorised holidays within term time.

Who should I contact if my child is going to be absent through illness, or for other legitimate reasons?

Parents should contact the Academy in advance or by 8am in the case of illness by calling the office or by messaging through the My Ed app.
