All students have an Individual Learning Plan designed for them on entering the Academy. This is developed by their learning mentor in collaboration with the student and shared with parents. The plan is updated continuously, whilst working with their learning mentor and formally reviewed on a termly basis. Every half term, there is an assessment to ensure that students remain on track or to instigate any specific support required.
Information is shared with parents plus there are Parental Consultation opportunities termly.
Students get individualised extension tasks, which are linked to their individualised targets. They have an opportunity to complete these, whilst having support from their learning mentor during the Academy day. If a student is in the Achievement phase and are undertaking GCSE’s they may be asked to do further revision at home. Students may want to additional research tasks at home.
Within the academy we identify G&T students following each assessment period. This involves analysis of their NRSS score from Star Reader and Star Maths. Students who are working significantly higher than their peers in a particular subject or who consistently show excellence in a particular skill such as leadership are deemed as talented. Once added to the register as talented, students will be the first to be considered for any enrichment opportunities in their subject. Parents are notified by letter and the Academy hosts regular information sharing and progress opportunities for families.
