The Academy aims to keep parents fully informed at all times. We normally communicate public notices by letter, text message and the website. If the matter is private, we will contact the family directly.
The Department for Education gives very clear direction to all schools on all requests for holiday leave taken during term time.
"The Principal may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances."
These exceptional circumstances are set out in the Academy’s Attendance Policy. The local authority will impose fines on all parents who take unauthorised holidays within term time.
Parents should contact the Academy in advance or by 8am in the case of illness. All absences must be confirmed in writing.
We will contact the family using the telephone numbers provided – please make sure that these are updated so we have the correct number.
Parents should contact the Academy’s Principal, Mr Grace in the first instance. If Mr Grace is not available then parents should contact the Chair of Governors.
The use of a mobile phone inside the Academy building is not allowed. Students may use their mobile phone outside during break and lunchtime at the Principal’s discretion. If an attempt to use a phone or digital device is made other than at this time it will be confiscated immediately and will be returned only to the parent /carer by the Principal. Mobile phones and digital devices are not covered for damage, loss or theft on the Academy site.
Healthy school meals are served daily in the main canteen but students may bring a packed lunch instead. All students are required to stay on site throughout the Academy day, including during the 30-minute lunch break.
Enquiries about using the facilities for a community activity should be made to Mrs Daniel, Academy Business Manager. The Academy is one of the biggest community resources in the area and we want to encourage the use of the building in the evening and weekends.
